TIPS FOR MANAGING STRESS

  • Do one thing you really enjoy each day.
  • Find the best study surroundings possible, either at home or at work
  • Exercise—try to do even 20 minutes of aerobic exercise each day.
  • Don’t procrastinate—do the tough stuff first and then tackle the easy parts.
  • Break a big project down into little manageable tasks and reward yourself for doing the little things.
  • Talk to someone—a friend, partner, classmate, colleague
  • Say “no” to extras that you don’t have time or energy to handle—it’s okay to say NO.
  • Avoid relying on drugs or alcohol to manage stress.
  • Learn how to do your chores; ask for help
  • Get enough sleep, even use an alarm clock to remind you to go to bed.
  • Ask for help.
  • Take a workshop or a course.
  • Read a self-help book.
  • Be realistic.
  • Look on the bright side—there always is one, even when it’s hiding.
  • Think positively.
  • Breathe deeply—learn relaxation techniques like deep breathing, muscle relaxing, yoga, meditation, etc.
  • Eat properly.
